Tata Docomo 3G
Tata Docomo has officially launched their 3G services in India. They have become the first commercial mobile carrier in India to launch 3G. Tata Docomo’s partner NTT Docomo is the pioneer of 3G in the world. So the Docomo 3G deployment in India was pretty smooth and fast. Tata Docomo has a HSPA+ 3G network which is capable of delivering 3G speeds up-to 21mbps. Docomo 3G is currently available in selected cities of states where they have won the license. Existing Tata Docomo customers with any GPRS pack can access 3G services in their mobile, free (100MB) for the coming seven days. The 3G tariff plans and other offers will be announced after this introductory offer. With 3G, users can access high speed internet and HD video steaming in their mobile devices. They can also make high quality video and audio calls to other 3G enabled handsets. The speed of the 3G and facilities varies with the handset used and service area.
Docomo has 3G license in Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh (Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. We earlier shared 3Gsettings and APN configuration procedure for BSNL. If you are a Tata Docomo customer, here are the APN settings for Docomo 3G and way to configure that in your Nokia, iPhone, Android, Windows mobile smartphones.
Tata Docomo 3G settings for Apple iPhone 4, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S:
From your iPhone go to settings> General> Network >
Select Enable 3G, click on the cellular data network and enter APN as TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET and save.
Tata Docomo 3G settings in Nokia phones:
Open your Nokia mobile settings, then network settings and create a new connection with APN as TATA.DOCOMO.DIVE.IN and save. Alternatively, you can open Nokia Settings Wizard application from the tool’s section and complete the wizard driven process to set up 3G.
Android and Windows mobile phones:
There is an automatic setting downloader application for some HTC phones with Sense. Others should configure the network settings manually using the above given APN.
If you are not sure how to do this configuration, SMS “3GLife” (without quotes) to 53333 or call 18002660000 from your Tata Docomo prepaid or postpaid connection. Follow the simple instructions from Tata Docomo and jump into the 3GLife.

To activate 3G in your TATA DOCOMO connection, you have to SMS ’3GLife’ (without quotes) to 53333. You will receive the SMS with the settings immediately. Enjoy 3G pal!
@pramod:- even i am getting the same msg, the tech support has told to wait 4 the settings recieving within 2 hrs.

yay I got the 3g symbol icon on my android ! .. its not connecting to the internet thats the problem

today when i called them they told me that my 3g services are already activated but when i change my network mode to utms i don’t get any signals ……. i think it don’t have coverage over chinchwad in pune can anyone confirm it
Tata Docomo 3G access point (APN) for internet browsing is TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET
When you specify this in connections (for Nokia Phones) or Cellular Network Setting(for iPhone etc) you can start browsing at 3G.
For Nokia, you must have ‘Dual Mode’ setting so that phone can switch between 3G and 2G based on available signal. To verify that if 3G is present, make setting as “UMTS” and if you don’t get any signal, then you don’t have 3G coverage in your area.
Tata Docomo have have launched the 3G with lot of hype but they are not ready with all the areas in Pune and around. Lot of areas have poor signal and signal gets lost lot of time. Forget 3G but even 2G signal is not consistent.
Tata Docomo service is poor so far. But this can be teething problem. When BSNL launched 3G in June, they took nearly 3 months to have stable network. Customers have to lodge complaints repeatedly.
It seems that none of the tata docomo customer care agents have any information about 3G APN settings.
I have called n number of times to customer care, each time i’m getting different answers from them.
TATA DOCOMO INTERNET & DIVE IN SETTINGS ARE WORKING IN GSM MODE BUT WHEN I SELECT UMTS (3G) ITS NOT WORKING.
I CAN RECEIVE & MAKE CALL IN 3G MODE BUT I CANNOT BROWSE.
CAN ANYONE TELL APN SETTINGS FOR BROWSING IN 3G MODE.

Hi moosa r u in bangaloe / some other place.
In network setting you have to specify wheather you want to use GSM/UMTS/DUAL.
To use internet in 3G ur internet should already be working in 2G and u should have gprs balance then when you login to 3G using umts mode you can browse 3G internt it varies from 100KBPS to 600KBPS you have to use ur existing 2G access point no changes needed.
SATISH N, you have a provisioning problem on your SIM. If you have been TD’s 2G customer and have just moved to 3G, you must call cust. care to activate 3G and tell them that browsing is not working in 3G mode. Tell them that you have not been provisioned on 3G network. The APN is correct TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET (in CAPITAL). Also, restart your phone by removing battery and SIM and putting it back. Check if you really have a 3G network in your area (3G should be shown). But I guess this basic check you must have done already. I had a same problem with BSNL firstly for browsing and then for MMS. Got it fixed by talking to BSNL General Manager. Cust care is useless with BSNL.Also check if you can make video calls to verify 3G is correctly activated. You haven’t mentioned your phone make and model.
moosa, your iPhone 4 must be locked handset. For unlocked handset, APN can be set by going to Settings->General->Network->Cellular Data Network. If “Cellular Data Network” menu is not visible, there can be 2 possibilities – 1. your provider is known to apple and has configured APN automatically. 2. Your handset is locked. The first possibility is ruled out because Tata Docomo is not a apple iPhone reseller so it is not a known provider (Airtel and Vodafone are known provider as they sell iphones locked to their network).
To unlock handset, search on the web you will find all the help.
i’m from chinchwad , pune . Docomo ne abhi tak pune main 3g service launch nahi ki hai . Phir b maine do teen din 3g signal ke sath mobile par browsing ki hai . 3g ka signal mujhe sirf shivajinagar main hi mila hai . Jahan pe main kam karta hoon . 2g aur 3g ke speed main thoda deference hai . Jab main mobile pe docomo 2g ke sath browsing downloading karta hoon tho 15kbps to 30 kbps ki speed hoti hai . Aur 3g main 40kbps to 67kbps speed hoti hai . 3g main docomo ne 21mbps speed btayi hai mgr mujhe abhi tak 1mbps b speed b nahi mili . Agar apko kuch jaankari hai tho please contact dolarebb@gmail.Com
i am having the same problem with my nokia n97. 3G has been activated and i get the 3.5G symbol, but i am not able to browse in 3G mode, however i can browse in 2G mode. The customer care guy says i am the first person with this problem, duh……
hiiiiiiiii this is raghav 3g service is activated in my htc hand set but the speed is not up to the markl as mentioned it would be around 21mbps for surfing n others applications but i dont see even 20 percent of that. so is der any network issue?
or the service is yet to upgrade?

I was facing the same problem as everyone facing for iphone. The steps what you need to do to get it connected with tata tocomo.
1. send sms to 3GLife to 53333
2. Navigate to iphone settings –> General –> Netwrk–> Enable 3G turn it on
3. Navigate to iphone settings –> General –> Netwrk–> Cellular Data Turn it on
4. Navigate to iphone settings –> General –> Netwrk–> Cellular Data Network–> type TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET in APN Column
5. Prepaid users get the GPRS Scheme recharge
Turn off the iphone and restart. Enjoy 3G…it is fast too.
