As you all might know, Apple released iOS 4.0 for iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod devices. One of the major features of iOS 4.0 is that it will bring multi-tasking to all supported devices. Apple iOS 4 multi-tasking is in such a way that it doesn’t affect the battery life and performance of the device. They have selected around seven important services and provided APIs that developers can use to implement multi-tasking in their apps. Currently there is only a selected number of iOS apps that support multi-tasking.

The iOS 4.0 that was in test from the last weeks reached the final gold master release and now available for download at Apple website. The final build of iOS 4.0 will reach all iPhone, iPod touch users by 22 June. Coming to the features, iOS 4.0 adds most awaited multi-tasking feature on all supported devices. Unlike other mobile operating systems, the iOS device allows only certain necessary services to multi-task. Therefore all iOS 4.0 devices get better battery life and improvement in speed.

Features of iPhone firmware 4.0 include multi-tasking support, iBook, folders for the apps, game center, better digital zoom and around 100 new improvements. They haven’t announced anything about the new iPhone 4G model that would also get iPhone firmware update 4.0. The new firmware comes with support for around 1500 APIs, which developers can use to program applications. The final version of iPhone firmware updates 4 will be available by the end of this June. Developers can now download firmware 4 at the official Apple developer website.

The Google Nexus One phone was much talked gadget in the web for the last few days. Nexus One is designed and priced as a true Apple iPhone competitor. The device is based on Google Android OS 2.0.
